Safe-Fire has successfully completed the retrofit of its High-Energy Spark Igniter (HESI) system at PLTU Barru Power Plant in South Sulawesi, Indonesia.  Managed by PLN Indonesia Power, the coal-fired power plant upgraded its existing 12J igniters to Safe-Fire’s 20J high-energy spark igniters to improve ignition performance and increase ignition success rates.

To meet the plant’s specific retrofit requirements, Safe-Fire developed a customized design that fits within the existing equipment housings, minimizing on-site modifications and simplifying installation. Despite the customized scope, Safe-Fire accelerated the delivery schedule from the standard 12-week lead time to less than eight weeks, ensuring the equipment arrived in time for the plant’s scheduled overhaul outage.

Installation was completed under the guidance of Safe-Fire engineers, and the upgraded equipment has been successfully commissioned and placed into operation.
