Supporting Green Transformation with Biomass Burner Technology
Safe-Fire has been selected to supply flame detection products and technical support for the biomass burner retrofit project at Unit 4 of Huaneng Hainan Dongfang Power Plant in China. This project marks a renewed partnership with the customer after Safe-Fire successfully supplied its SA-3000 Series Flame Detection System to the same power plant more than 15 years ago.
With an installed capacity of 4 × 350 MW, Huaneng Hainan Dongfang Power Plant is the largest modern million-kilowatt-class energy base in Hainan Province. The plant is actively advancing its green transformation strategy and aims to become a regional demonstration site for coal-biomass co-firing. Unit 4 has been selected as the pilot unit for the direct-combustion biomass co-firing retrofit.
Upon completion, the project is expected to replace more than 100,000 tons of standard coal annually and reduce CO₂ emissions by over 300,000 tons per year, making a significant contribution to cleaner power generation.
Safe-Fire will supply four sets of SF-3001 Flame Detectors and SA-3000 Flame Amplifiers, together with cables and installation accessories. The company will also provide on-site installation guidance and commissioning support. A key advantage of the project is the seamless system expansion enabled by the amplifier's reserved mounting slots, allowing the new SA-3000 and SF-3001 modules to be installed quickly with minimal modification to the existing system.
